| Statement of Purpose |
| The Debt Agreement Service Newsletter is produced and published by Insolvency and Trustee Service, Australia, the Commonwealth Government Agency responsible for the administration and regulation of the personal insolvency system in Australia. |
| ITS PURPOSES ARE: |
- To provide information on the role of the Debt Agreement Service, our responsibilities and the services we supply;
- To provide contact details and information about when the Debt Agreement Service is available and information about events which impact the processing of proposals;
- To clarify creditors rights and obligations under the legislation;
- To promote coming events, such as the Bankruptcy Congress, creditor forums and training;
- To provide information on unacceptable practice identified in proposals and SOCAVs to improve practice and compliance;
- To provide suggestions on how to improve the clarity of proposals for creditors;
- To provide general information that would be important and valuable for administrators and creditors

| IT DOES NOT: |
- Formally notify administrators and creditors of changes to the law and practice;
- Replace the formal notification to administrators and creditors that is needed to later refer to when the law is not complied with;
- Provide examples to illustrate the application of law or practice or to provide training;
- Address matters that are the responsibility of Bankruptcy Regulation.
